  • Psychosis of any kind:

Psychosis can be categorized into several types, often based on the underlying causes or associated conditions. Here are some of the main types of psychosis:

1. Primary Psychotic Disorders

  • Schizophrenia: A chronic psychotic disorder with symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, and impaired functioning.

  • Schizoaffective Disorder: A condition where symptoms of schizophrenia are combined with mood disorder symptoms (like those of bipolar disorder or depression).

  • Brief Psychotic Disorder: A short-term psychotic episode, typically lasting less than a month, often triggered by a stressful event.

  • Delusional Disorder: Characterized by persistent delusions without other significant psychotic symptoms.

2. Mood Disorder-Related Psychosis

  • Bipolar Disorder with Psychotic Features: In severe episodes of mania or depression, people with bipolar disorder may experience psychotic symptoms.

  • Major Depressive Disorder with Psychotic Features: In severe cases of depression, psychotic symptoms such as delusions or hallucinations can occur.

3. Substance-Induced Psychosis

  • Drug-Induced Psychosis: Certain substances, such as cannabis, amphetamines, LSD, or alcohol, can cause psychotic symptoms either during use or withdrawal.

  • Medication-Induced Psychosis: Some prescribed medications can lead to psychosis as a side effect, especially if taken in high doses or misused.

4. Psychosis Due to Medical Conditions

  • Neurodegenerative Disorders: Conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, or Huntington’s disease can lead to psychosis as the brain changes over time.

  • Other Medical Conditions: Brain tumors, infections (like HIV or syphilis), metabolic disorders, or endocrine issues (e.g., thyroid problems) can also cause psychosis.

5. Psychotic Disorder Due to Trauma or Stress

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with Psychosis: In severe cases of PTSD, individuals may experience psychotic symptoms like paranoia or hallucinations.

  • Brief Reactive Psychosis: A short-term psychosis triggered by extreme stress or a traumatic event. Symptoms typically resolve on their own in days or weeks.

6. Organic or Neurological Psychosis

  • Delirium: An acute state of confusion, often with hallucinations, that is usually reversible and related to an underlying medical issue, like infection or injury.

  • Dementia with Psychosis: Psychotic symptoms that develop as part of the progression of dementia, particularly in Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia.

Each type requires different approaches to treatment, as the underlying causes and symptom patterns vary. Often, treatment involves antipsychotic medications, psychotherapy, and support tailored to the specific type of psychosis.

What’s Included?

Structured, focused therapeutic interventions

Symptom management techniques and coping strategies

Support with medication adherence (if applicable) and medical coordination

Regular progress assessments and goal adjustment

The cost of therapy includes any written materials provided, but excludes any books suggested for reading. Terms and fees may change, but any changes will be agreed upon in advance of the session.

*Duration of a session:

I have chosen to set therapy sessions at a minimum of 2 hours. Drawing from years of experience, I find that many clients attend only an initial consultation and may not return, even if long-term therapy is recommended. To genuinely help clients understand their psychological or physical concerns, I require more time than typical 30- 50 minutes sessions allow. During these extended sessions, I perform a comprehensive mental, emotional, and physical analysis. My goal is for each client to leave with clarity about their situation and actionable insights for their well-being.

I will not terminate our contract suddenly, except under exceptional circumstances, which will be fully discussed. Any verbal or physical threats, inappropriate words, or acts of violence will invalidate this agreement, leading to immediate termination of therapy.
